Donated pallets given a new lease of life at a local school

At WW Martin we are always looking for ways in which we can reduce or reuse waste on our building sites.

We were very pleased therefore to receive these photos from Bridge & Patrixbourne Primary School recently, showing how they have given a new lease of life to some wooden pallets that we had arranged to donate for use in their Forest School area and elsewhere.

The children have used the pallets for a variety of purposes including den building, the creation of a bug hotel, building a pirate ship and setting up a mud kitchen. They are also being used for loose part play - an open-ended form of play which allows children to explore, create and imagine, assigning their own purpose and meaning to the objects.

It is great to see such imaginative use being made of our surplus items, which otherwise would be categorised as waste.
