EKC Group construction students tour our Melbourne Avenue site in Ramsgate

We were delighted to welcome EKC Group construction students to our Melbourne Avenue project yesterday, as we continue and extend our partnership with the Group as part of the Employment, Apprenticeship and Training Programme (EATP) that we run at WW Martin.

Through working with EKC Group on numerous successful projects over a number of years, we have established an excellent relationship, central to which is our shared commitment and passion to create and provide opportunities for students.

In the last few years alone, we have delivered over 20 apprenticeship placements and have six apprentices currently working with us at WW Martin.

Following a series of recent engagements with Joshua Sweeney, Programme Director Construction for EKC Group, we were only too pleased to provide the opportunity for some of their students to spend time on our project in Ramsgate, where we are delivering 55 new homes with Orbit Homes.

The first 9 of 65 EKC Group construction students spent the afternoon with our Senior Site Manager, Peter Clelford on site.

Peter is a great role model for the students, having been with WW Martin for over 25 years after joining us as an apprentice himself. He was on hand to impart key knowledge and learning to the students, who all showed a real desire and aptitude to learn from the experience of working on a live site.

Joshua Sweeney, Programme Director Construction for EKC Group, said,
“On behalf of Broadstairs College, we would like to express our sincerest gratitude for allowing our students to visit your construction site. Your willingness to show them around and give them an in-depth understanding of the carpentry trade has been invaluable to their studies.

Our students will be able to apply the theory they learned in the classroom and workshop to real-life scenarios, and they now have a greater appreciation for the skills and knowledge required to excel in the construction industry. Your guidance has not only helped them to understand their subject more, but it will also undoubtedly contribute to their successful completion of their Level 2 Carpentry course.

Once again, we appreciate your generosity and support in providing our students with such a meaningful experience.”

We are looking forward to welcoming the next group of students to site soon.
