Project Progress - The Beacon
Phase 1 of the works at The Beacon School in Walmer, Deal are progressing well with the installation of new doors and windows throughout the former Compass Centre Buildings.
A new kitchen and toilet facilities have been installed, with the painting, decorations and installation of new floors continuing throughout.
Externally, a new secure boundary fence has been erected around the perimeter of the school. Careful liaison and detailed Risk Assessments were utilised to ensure the safety of pupils, staff and the public at the adjacent nursery school.
Working with our Client KCC, we are delivering a phased refurbishment of many of the existing and disused buildings at the former Walmer Science College. Phase one involves the complete refurbishment of the former Compass Centre buildings to provide an Early Years and Key Stage One block for 40 special educational needs (ASD) pupils.
Particular aspects of the works include remodelling of internal spaces, the erection of an external canopy, replacement of all windows and external doors, enhanced and renewed car parking, drop-off and pick-up areas, external landscaping and a safe and secure new boundary to the new school buildings.
