Project Completion: 10 The Precincts, Canterbury Cathedral
We recently completed a full refurbishment of this
three-bedroomed residential period property, located in a highly sensitive
location opposite the Archbishops’ Residence within the grounds of Canterbury
Cathedral.
Using traditional methods and materials, the residential
property was completely refurbished inside and out. Externally, a new roof was
fitted and the chimney rebuilt, new sash windows and a damp proof course
installed. Internally, new floors and ceilings were installed, all electrics
and plumbing renewed and the property fully replastered. A high-quality new
kitchen / utility and family bathroom were fitted, and internal reconfigurations
made to create a new en-suite bathroom and a home study area.
Reclaimed period materials were used throughout, repurposed
from the property itself or sourced from local specialist suppliers, helping to
support circular economy principles.
Close liaison with surrounding commercial and residential
properties was managed throughout the whole project, with careful consideration
given to the planning of work carried out to cause minimal disruption to other
residents and Cathedral events and services.
The completed project brings this period property up to
high-quality modern standards, ready for occupation by a member of the
Cathedral staff.
