Bug hotel building workshop at Teynham Primary School
We were delighted to return to Teynham Parochial CofE Primary School this week to run a Bug Hotel building workshop with the fantastic children from Hedgehog Class, following the recent completion of the brand new school building for our client, Kent County Council (KCC).
The pupils enthusiastically participated in the activity, using repurposed waste materials donated from our construction sites to create a series of insect habitats. From pipes and pallets to bark and bricks, nothing went to waste as the children learned how recycled and reused building materials can be used to create safe spaces for bugs and minibeasts.
The new Bug Hotels will now take pride of place in the school’s Forest School area, helping to boost biodiversity and allowing the children to observe insects settling into their new habitat.
Supporting natural habitats and encouraging biodiversity is an important part of our sustainability strategy, and it was fantastic to see the children engaging so positively with the activity.
A huge thank you to the staff at Teynham School for having us, and a big well done to Hedgehog Class for their creativity, teamwork and enthusiasm. We loved spending the afternoon with you.
