Contract Award - New Science, Technology and Art Builing St Lawrence College, Ramsgate

Some 38 years after building the St Lawrence College's first property 'Dane Park House', WW Martin are delighted to have been appointed to work again at this very successful co-educational independent school in Ramsgate, Kent.

The project will provide a new multi-million pound Science, Technology and Art teaching facilities in a new four-storey teaching block which will consist of eight science and two design technology classrooms, two art studios and two design workshops.

The new building designed by Kent based architects Giarti, is a contemporary design with the building split across four levels, including one storey below ground. Areas of red stock brick will provide a subtle connection with the existing brick in the older surrounding buildings, as well as a contrast with the proposed modern render panels and aluminium windows.

Principal Antony Spencer said: "This is great news for the school and the local community and we hope the new facilities will be a source of pride for the people of Thanet, just as the new sports facilities have given the area a quality resource that is amongst the best in the country."
