Contract Award - Sittingbourne Community College
Working in partnership with Kent County Council as their
approved construction partner, we have commenced work on site at Sittingbourne
Community College.
The
early programme of works for this project involves demolition of existing
buildings and extensive enabling works in order to create safe access to the
school for the pupils during the construction work. Also included is the
construction of a new designated coach/bus park to improve access to and from
the school for vehicles which will not only improve safety but also reduce
congestion on the local residential roads. This aspect of the work will be led
by our sister company WWM Civils Ltd and see us utilise our detailed traffic
management plans to carry out the Section 278 highways work on a busy section
of the main A2 highway into and out of Sittingbourne.
Following these initial works, our team led by Darren Offen
(Finalist for Construction Manager of the Year Awards 2017) will undertake the
construction of a new 3 storey teaching classroom block and a 2 storey
extension to the existing school. Other works will include internal
refurbishment works to other existing buildings which will provide a new science
block and generally to create new and improved teaching facilities for the 1100
plus pupils at the school and sixth form.
