Official opening of Kingsmead Pools and Fitness, Canterbury

We were very proud to attend the official opening of our recently completed project, Kingsmead Pools and Fitness in Canterbury. The event welcomed 60 guests, including the Lord Mayor of Canterbury, Councillor Jean Butcher.

With an £8 million investment from our client, Active Life, Kingsmead Pools & Fitness now features a state-of-the-art gym, modern fitness studios, a beautiful health suite, upgraded changing facilities, an enhanced swimming pool, and a new sports hall.

Our work involved the delivery of a major new build extension and extensive refurbishment works to the existing building to help create a fantastic new leisure offering in the heart of Canterbury. Working closely with the project team partners and our excellent supply chain partners, we are delighted to have played a pivotal role in delivering this exciting transformation to the Leisure Centre.

Having had the opportunity to help deliver such an exciting project that promotes health and fitness within the local community, we were pleased to attend the celebration alongside representatives from our community partner, Kent Cricket, including Chief Commercial Officer Andy Griffiths who shares the same passion. After the event, Andy shared,

“We were delighted to attend the official Kingsmead Pools & Fitness reopening event. Having worked closely with WW Martin, our Elite Partner, for over eight years, it was a great opportunity to see their most recent work not far from The Spitfire Ground, Canterbury, especially as we are so passionate about promoting health and wellbeing in Kent.

“I have to say, myself and all of the team, including our fast bowler Michael Cohen, who were given the opportunity to tour the centre, were massively impressed. The fact that these new leisure and fitness facilities are now available in the heart of Canterbury is fantastic to see.”
