Project Completion - ITU - William Harvey Hospital

We are pleased to announce that we have completed and handed over the new state of the art ITU (Intensive Treatment Unit) to the William Harvey Hospital (WHH) in Ashford for the East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust.

The project involved the reconfiguration of the existing ward to deliver a new unit to accommodate 8 No Intensive Treatment beds. This new Unit, allows the Hospital to free up space in the Emergency Department in light of the current Covid 19 Pandemic.

The state of the art ITU was completed to a swift 10 week programme using innovative ‘Smart Glass’ The frosted glass separating each bed uses an electrical charge to make it transparent, allowing for the observation on patients quickly when needed, this can then be reversed back to a frosted glass to allow for patient privacy. This technique is the first of its kind to be used in the East Kent Hospital trust offering a range of benefits including hygiene.

Working in the busy hospital site, our team have worked hard to deliver the works to the 10 week programme in order to make the new facilities available to receive patients as soon as possible.

This contract is the latest in a series of contracts for the NHS, with our team having also completed other schemes for the East Kent Hospitals Trust both at the William Harvey Hospital and the QEQM Hospital, Margate.
