Project Completion - Medway Maritime Hospital, Covid Testing Unit

Works to deliver a new structure to support Covid-19 testing at Medway Maritime Hospital, is now complete and in use following handover this week.

The testing centre, located on the main hospital perimeter road is being used to reduce the need for people to enter the hospital for a Covid test before upcoming and planned hospital admission.

The new designated space now allows members of the public to drive their car directly into one of the covered parking bays where they can be tested, crucially helping to ensure adverse weather does not risk spoiling the accuracy of the testing process.

The project has been successfully delivered in a matter of weeks, with our Special Works team designing and directly fabricating the structure off-site before installation on site. Key to the project was the need for our team to develop a ‘no dig’ engineered solution to avoid the risk of potentially disturbing the number of key services running under the ground in this location, which serve the main hospital buildings.

This new facility is one of a number of projects we have recently completed for the Medway NHS Foundation Trust as we continue to progress work on many other hospital projects throughout Kent.
