Project Completion - operating theatres at Kent & Canterbury Hospital
Refurbishment works to two main operating theatres at the Kent & Canterbury Hospital have been successfully completed for the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust.
The provision of these two operating theatres and ancillary facilities, including preparation and anaesthetic areas, scrubbing-in rooms and post-operative observation areas, provide EKHUFT with modern and high-tech facilities for vital services at the hospital.
With the works carefully planned to keep disruption to a minimum within the live hospital environment, the initial sequence of works included the complete strip-out of the existing theatres before we then undertook a series of works to Theatres 4 and 5, including:
- the refit of all mechanical and electrical systems
- provision and installation of extensive medical equipment including supply of medical gases
- full installation of hygienic wall and floor surfaces
- fully fitted surgeon panels and work areas
The project which has been handed over this month, forms part of a wider strategy for the development of the Kent & Canterbury Hospital site and is a continuation of our extensive work in collaboration with 2gether Support Solutions and the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust.
