Project Completion – Thanet District Council, Strategic Housing Phase 3.
Construction works on site are now complete following the successful delivery of Phase 3 of the Thanet District Council (TDC) housing regeneration scheme programme.
Delivered as a Design & Build contract, this project provides 26 new homes across two sites located approximately 100 yards apart from each other. The sites are in an established area of Ramsgate close to the town centre at Kings Street and Sussex Street and are an excellent example of how sites can be successfully transformed to provide much needed new homes.
King Street
Previously a disused old garage site which suffered from vandalism and fly-tipping, this site has been successfully transformed. With the works now complete, the site features a striking new four-storey building consisting of 14no. flats fronting King Street, and 4no. 2 bedroom mews style homes located to the rear.
The project was sensitively designed and built to maximise the space available whilst also carefully considering the proximity of neighbouring properties adjoining the site.It features a communal garden to the flats and private gardens to each of the new houses, as well as excellent connectivity to the town centre.
Sussex Street
A total of 8 new properties consisting of 2no. 3 bed houses and 6no. 2bed flats which have been well designed on a small parcel of land that previously housed a number of old garage units which were a target for graffiti and waste.
With each of the new properties now fully occupied, the new homes provide high quality affordable housing for TDC in a central location and mark the completion of Phase 3 of their housing regeneration strategy.
