Project Progress - Giles Lane student accommodation, Canterbury
Our Giles Lane project is progressing well, delivering high-quality student accommodation at the University of Kent. Designed by specialist architects Church Lukas, the three-storey building will provide 91 purpose-built units, including cluster flats, studios, communal lounges, kitchens, and amenity areas. Sustainability is a core focus, with features such as photovoltaic (PV) panels, a green roof, and careful integration with the adjacent ancient woodland.
Construction milestones continue to be met. The brickwork, superstructure, and window installations are complete, and the building is now fully watertight. Roofing works are finished, with the green roof installation ready for planting. Internally, dry lining is progressing well, with all three floors walls fully boarded. Mechanical and electrical first-fix installations are well advanced, flooring is being laid, and painting has commenced.
Part of a wider development of five new buildings, Block E will help form a modern, sustainable student hub. We look forward to providing further updates as the project moves forward.
