QEQM Hospital, Margate wins prestigious RICS Award

The QEQM Hospital, Margate, which delivers clinical care facilities and services in East Kent, has been announced as Winner of the Best Public Sector Project in the RICS South East Regional Awards.

At a special awards ceremony held at the RICS historic head office on Parliament Square in the heart of London, representatives from the project team including main contractor WW Martin, Modus Construction Consultants, Hazle McCormack Young LLP and the client 2gether Support Solutions / East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust (EKHUFT) were delighted to receive the award.

The major remodelling and expansion project, which was praised by the judges on the night, will now proudly represent the South East and compete against other regional winners from across the UK in the RICS UK Awards ceremony to be held at The Park Plaza Riverbank, London in October.

Delivered in multiple phases, the QEQM team successfully managed the complex operational challenges of a live hospital over a 30-month programme. Meticulous planning, project co-ordination, exceptional design and excellent delivery on site ensured the uninterrupted delivery of care at the hospital.

Now complete and fully operational, the project provides a new Emergency Department (A&E), Rapid Assessment & Treatment area, dedicated mental health facilities, a paediatric emergency department, remodelled ambulance bays, consultation / treatment rooms, and various other staff wellbeing and patient care facilities.
