Delivering curriculum-based learning at Teynham Primary School

As part of our commitment to delivering a wide range of social value initiatives in partnership with Kent County Council, we were delighted to spend the day with pupils of Teynham Parochial Church of England Primary School last week, where we are currently on site constructing their brand-new school building.

As part of the school’s STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Week, we delivered tailored teaching sessions for each year group, covering key aspects of construction. This included site safety, the progress of their own school build, and an introduction to the wide range of careers available in our industry.

The children were highly engaged, asking thoughtful questions and making meaningful connections between their classroom learning and real-world applications.

A highlight of the day was taking pupils on a supervised tour of the construction site. Wearing hi-vis vests and hard hats, the children had a unique opportunity to see their new classrooms taking shape. Being able to meet the site managers and see the construction work was a great experience, and it certainly helped pupils understand the complexity and the excellent teamwork involved in successfully delivering a project of this scale.
