The Great Hall wins at Canterbury Design Society Awards
We are delighted to announce The Great Hall has won two awards at the Canterbury Society Design Awards held this month.
New Building Outside a Conservation Area: WINNER
Most Innovative Solution to our Climate and Ecological Emergency: WINNER
The building, designed by HMY Architects, is empathetic towards the historical roots of Kent College Canterbury, whilst providing state-of-the-art facilities and enhancing the learning environment for students.It has created a new focal point for the college, providing an area for concerts, assemblies and chapel services, as well as professional quality music and theatre facilities.
In presenting the awards, the judges praised the sustainable approach to the project as exemplary, highlighting how the building has been designed and built so that the operation of the building saves on energy costs, reduces harmful emissions and offers an example of how solutions can be developed to adapt to a heating climate.
