Welcoming Dylan for work experience
We were delighted to welcome local student Dylan for a week of work experience with our team. With a strong interest in both architecture and engineering, Dylan was keen to gain insight into the construction industry.
During the week, Dylan spent time on several of our live construction sites, shadowing our experienced site managers to understand the different stages of the construction process. He visited our affordable housing schemes being delivered on behalf of Thanet District Council, as well as three school construction projects for Kent County Council.
A particular highlight was an in-depth tour of The Beacon, where we are approaching completion of a major new-build extension at the existing special educational needs (SEN) school. This gave Dylan the opportunity to see first-hand how a complex project of this nature is managed and delivered.
To round off the week, Dylan was involved in a social value project for East Kent Hospitals University NHS Trust, contributing to their ‘Planting for Health’ initiative, aimed at improving green areas of the hospital for the benefit of patients, staff and visitors.
Dylan said:
“I really enjoyed my week at WW Martin. It was so interesting to see what actually happens on a construction site.
Everyone was very friendly and explained things really well. It’s made me even more interested in working in architecture or engineering in the future.”
We are always pleased to support local students with work experience opportunities and wish Dylan all the best in his future studies and career ambitions.
