​WW Martin completes new student accommodation for the University of Kent

Last weekend was a busy one for universities across the country – and no less so in Canterbury – as the University of Kent welcomed new students to the fantastic new Giles Lane Student Village.

We are delighted to announce the completion of our construction project for Giles Lane Investments, providing high-quality student accommodation on Giles Lane as part of the University of Kent’s ongoing campus enhancement programme.

Designed by specialist student-accommodation architects Church Lukas, with B&M providing key consultancy services, the new three-storey building provides 91 purpose-built units, a mix of cluster flats and studios, alongside shared amenity areas and landscaped external spaces.

Each unit offers modern ensuite bedrooms, with offsite modular bathroom pods (MMC) to ensure quality and efficiency, plus communal lounges and kitchens to meet the needs of today’s students.

Sitting adjacent to an area of ancient woodland, the development places green design principles and sustainability at its heart. Extensive photovoltaic (PV) panels and a green roof further enhance its environmental credentials.

This building – known as Block E – forms part of the University’s vision for a vibrant new central student village that will seamlessly connect with the existing campus.
