Description

Working with HMY Architects, 2gether Support Solutions, Sweco and Modus, we were delighted to undertake major remodelling and expansion works at the QEQM Hospital. A new extension building infills one of the original courtyards within the hospital, behind the current South East Health department and close to the current A&E department.

The completed first phase of this project provides the hospital with a brand-new children’s emergency department, twelve new treatment bays for adults, dedicated mental health facilities, a new entrance, and waiting area.

Designed by HMY Architects, the project was delivered in full compliance with HBNs and HTMs - the specialist guidance for design and planning of a new adaption or extension to existing NHS facilities and the installation of specialised healthcare building services. Working in a live hospital environment, we gave key consideration to site logistics, management of health & safety and working practices on site to maintain the full operation of all existing hospital services.

This contract is the latest instalment in our works across several East Kent Hospital Trust sites, including William Harvey Hospital and Kent & Canterbury Hospital. The East Kent Hospital Trust’s vision is 'great healthcare from great people' - expansion works at the QEQM will allow the hospital to continue it's forward-thinking approach in treatment and research.
