Our Special Projects team has successfully completed vital upgrade works at Kent & Canterbury Hospital, delivering a major new primary substation and power supply to support the hospital’s growing energy needs.

This critical project follows our earlier work at the hospital, including the successful delivery of the new Mechanical Thrombectomy Unit and a series of refurbishment works completed earlier this year.

The newly constructed primary substation building is designed to manage the complete energy demands of the hospital site. It houses a state-of-the-art switchroom and a support generator, which provides a vital backup power source to the Accident and Emergency Department in the event of any disruption to the main supply.

Given the essential nature of these works, our team – working alongside specialist subcontractor partners – collaborated closely with 2Gether Support Solutions, East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust and the wider hospital team to ensure the continuity of power and smooth running of hospital operations throughout the project.
