Description

Our Special Projects team have completed a meticulous refurbishment at The Deanery, located within The Precincts of Canterbury Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This marks our third successful project within this highly-sensitive and historically significant setting.

Our skilled craftsmen undertook a full refurbishment of the residential areas within the Grade 1 listed Deanery, utilising traditional methods and materials that respect the building's historical integrity. Parts of the Deanery date back to the 12th century, and our team ensured that every aspect of the work, including restoration by hand of the windows, floors, and wood panelling, was executed with the utmost care for the building's rich heritage.

In addition to preserving these historical features, we carefully modernised the facilities by installing a new kitchen and bathrooms, achieving a balance between contemporary functionality and the building’s ancient fabric.

This project was completed thanks to grant funding from The Friends of Canterbury Cathedral and The Canterbury Cathedral Trust.

We are very pleased to continue our longstanding relationship with Canterbury Cathedral and grateful for the trust they place in us to carry out such significant work within their grounds.
