Job Purpose and Scope:

This is an opportunity to play a key role in the Business Development team at one of the largest main contractors in Kent.You will play a key role in all aspects of the company’s activities with a focus on new business, marketing and events. Your main priorities will include helping the business respond to future work opportunities, and effectively market the business to further raise the profile of the company.

Accountabilities:

Reporting to the Business Development Manager.

Key Tasks and Activities:

  • Responsible for planning, co-ordinating and attending various company events, including managing internal and external guests.
  • Support the Corporate Social Responsibility commitment of the business including the varied and exciting local sponsorship partnerships.
  • Liaise closely with the various teams within the business to capture information on the activities and the operations of the company to ensure effective marketing.
  • Take a lead role in the development and ongoing running of the company website and other forms of social and digital marketing media.
  • Manage tender and planning portals to help identify new business opportunities and ensure effective communication within the Pre-construction and Business Development Teams.
  • Maintain a library of historical bids to best support the delivery of future tender submissions.
  • Produce well written and detailed response documents when bidding for new work, completing Pre-Qualification Questionnaires and tender quality documents.
  • Create marketing literature including e-brochures, project information sheets, website content and manage photography.
  • Undertake creative design work to enhance the presentation of marketing and tender submission documents, including presentation material for client interviews and tender submission documents.

Essential:

  • Excellent IT skills – competent in the use of Word, Excel, presentation software including Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
  • Positive attitude to working as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Confident to manage concurrent projects.
  • Strong administration skills including excellent organisation and communication skills.
  • Initiative to accomplish marketing activities and priorities.
  • Confident and motivated person to represent the company at events.
  • Ability to travel - due to the need to travel in the course of business, the successful candidate will need to have access to an appropriately insured vehicle and hold a full driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry.
  • University degree in Business, Marketing or similar.

Role Overview

Working for a leading main contractor in Kent, the postholder will be responsible for managing the pre-construction set up, programming, on site delivery and commercial performance of a variety of construction contracts simultaneously in line with the required H&S and exceptional company quality standards.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong track record within a similar role and experience of managing a team of construction professionals.Construction works will be of a varied nature and will involve both new build and refurbishment works across multiple sectors including but not limited to Education, Residential, Industrial and Care.Project values will typically range from £1.5million to £20million with the vast majority of works predominantly in Kent.

Reporting

Reporting directly to Construction Director

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Act as the central point of contact and key relationship manager to the client for all contract delivery matters, coordinating all roles internally and externally to the business to ensure the successful delivery of each contract.
  • Plan, organise, control construction projects from pre-construction through to project close out while ensuring adherence to design specification, programme, and budgeted allowances.
  • Manage and coordinate multiple site delivery teams.
  • Attend pre-contract handover meetings with pre-construction and design teams to review/discuss proposed allowances/outputs & attendances.
  • Create a working environment amongst the team that encourages proactive responses to project objectives in collaboration with the Client.
  • Provide a vital role in developing strong client relationships to best enhance current and future contract opportunities.
  • Liaise with subcontractor partners and project team members to best manage the works and ensure that all works are effectively managed for each contract.
  • Plan and prepare construction programmes and monitor progress against agreed targets.
  • Undertake continuous project reviews with Senior Site Management to ensure works delivered on site are in full compliance to specification, cost and programme.
  • Prepare and implement site-specific safety plans and establish safe systems of work incorporating method statements.
  • Work closely with company H&S Manager to ensure all sites are established and operate in accordance with H&S legislation and internal guidance.
  • Manage commercial change orders and claims related to the contracts under your management in close working with the project Surveyor.
  • Present progress reports in accordance with contract requirements and regular Project Team Meetings.
