Vacancy: Business Development Marketing Coordinator

Job Role

This is an opportunity to play a key role within the Business Development team at one of Kent’s leading main contractors. The role offers exposure to all aspects of marketing, communications, and events, alongside a key responsibility for supporting the company’s social value commitments and community engagement activities.

This is a varied position suited to someone who is organised, proactive and confident in producing high-quality graphic and written marketing content, engaging with a range of stakeholders, and representing the business in a professional and approachable manner.

This role would suit either a graduate in business or marketing with the required skills, or someone with existing experience looking to broaden their responsibilities within marketing and business development in a structured and supportive environment.

Accountabilities

Reporting to the Business Development Director.

Key Tasks and Activities

  • Planning, attending and supporting community engagement activities, representing the business confidently across careers fairs, school and college events, and wider company initiatives
  • Managing and updating the company’s social media platforms and website content to maintain clear and professional communication
  • Producing company and site newsletters, ensuring content is accurate and well-presented
  • Producing marketing materials, including business cards, site signage, posters, etc, using design software such as Adobe or similar to ensure a consistent and professional standard of presentation
  • Coordinating the collection of photography and video content across live projects and using this to develop marketing and communication material
  • Liaising with teams across the business to gather project and company information to support marketing and new business opportunities
  • Planning and coordinating company events, including invitations, communications, and event support, whilst also attending and helping to host events
  • Assisting with document control and coordination activities within the Business Development team including tender portals and local authority planning systems
  • Assisting with the review and tracking of new business opportunities and general market activity across Kent

Social Value Responsibilities

You will play an active role in supporting the company’s social value commitments, helping to deliver meaningful engagement across the communities in which we operate. This will include:

  • Delivering social value activities with local schools, colleges, and community organisations including:
    • School and college engagement workshops
    • Construction careers talks and awareness sessions
    • Site tours and work experience visits
    • Careers fairs and employer engagement events
    • Volunteer and community projects
  • Recording and tracking all social value activities

Essential

We are looking for someone with a proactive and positive approach, a strong eye for detail, and a genuine interest in marketing, communication, and community engagement within the construction industry.

The key requirements include:

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise and track workload effectively to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to produce clear, professional, and well-presented content and graphics
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and design software such as Adobe, Canva or similar
  • Confident, approachable, and comfortable engaging with people in a range of settings, including events and external activities
  • Ability to follow direction and respond to feedback while also working independently
  • Managing workload to ensure timely and structured delivery of activities
  • Positive attitude to working as part of a team
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own car

Desirable

  • Experience in a marketing, communications, or similar role

Senior / Quantity Surveyor

Senior / Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking a self-motivated, driven and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor / Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of works within our Special Projects division.

Works typically consist of refurbishment, maintenance and general building works delivered through both measured term contracts and individually procured projects, often within live operational environments including healthcare, education and commercial settings.

The successful candidate will work closely with the established Special Projects team to ensure effective commercial management and financial control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial management of multiple concurrent projects from pre-construction through to final account.
  • Preparation and management of project budgets, cost plans and financial forecasts.
  • Production of cost / value reconciliations (CVR) and cost-to-complete reporting.
  • Risk and value engineering including identifying potential commercial risks, implementation of cost control measures, and identify opportunities for increased margin
  • Preparation and agreement of interim valuations with client team.
  • Assessment and agreement of variations and re-measurement of works.
  • Extension of time claims
  • Contract administration: Ensure compliance with contract terms, managing variations, issuing contractual notices, and handling claims
  • Record keeping
  • Preparation, submission and negotiation of final accounts.
  • Commercial administration of measured term contracts.
  • Procurement and commercial management of subcontract packages including tendering, orders, payment applications, variations, and final account settlements.
  • Monitoring subcontractor accounts and payment applications along with subcontractor payments
  • Working closely with Project Managers and site teams to ensure projects remain commercially controlled.
  • Liaison with clients, project managers, PQS’s to maintain strong working relationships and resolve commercial matters.
  • Mentoring: Provide guidance and support to Assistant/Trainee QS

Required Experience

  • Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Surveyor within construction.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of refurbishment and general building works.
  • Experience administering measured term contracts or small works frameworks (preferable).
  • Demonstrable experience in:
    • valuations
    • variations
    • subcontract procurement
    • final accounts
    • cost reporting and forecasting.

Key Skills

  • Strong commercial and financial management capability.
  • Excellent communication and client engagement skills.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of projects concurrently.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Good organisational and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with operational teams and senior management.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • General use of computer / laptop
  • Working knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC)

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Degree, HNC or HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Construction.
  • Membership of RICS, CIOB or equivalent professional body (desirable but not essential).
