Bricklaying Apprenticeship

In conjunction with East Kent Brickwork, we have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice to join our team.

If you have a passion for starting a career in bricklaying, we would love to hear from you.

Skills required:

  • Reliable.
  • Team Player
  • Flexible.
  • Ability to use own initiative.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Analysing plans and specifications to ensure you have the right materials for the project.
  • Measuring required dimensions.
  • Laying bricks in rows for the construction of walls and other structures.
  • Repairing and maintaining bricks and cement blocks.
  • Checking and measuring alignment of bricks.
  • Designing shapes and spreading mortar between joints.
  • General labouring

Daily Duties:

This list is not exhaustive, and you may be required to carry out other tasks to meet business needs.

College:

You will attend East Kent College as part of your apprenticeship with East Kent Brickwork. The college time is scheduled as 2 days per week, term on, term off. When you are 'term off', you will expected to work a 5 day week within the business.

To be successful in this role you need to have a can to attitude and lots of enthusiasm. This is a varied position, which requires the successful candidate to carry out various tasks.

The apprenticeship is over a 18month period. This is done onsite, and an online platform will be used where the apprentice can upload answers to questions and produce evidence. And an assessor will perform onsite observations during the process.

To be successful in this role you need to have an excellent eye for detail and the ability to work as part of a team.

Your Daily Duties

  • Learning Painting and Decorating as a base skill and adapting to operative workload requirements.
  • Provide high quality cosmetic finishes to specialist construction works.
  • Preparation of Refurbishment works and application of decorative finishes.
  • Preparation of New construction and application of decorative finishes.
  • Maintaining good Housekeeping on site.
  • Comply with High craftsmanship standards and Health and Safety requirements.

This list is not exhaustive, and you may be required to carry out other tasks to meet business needs.

College:

You will attend East Kent College as part of your apprenticeship with WW Martin. The college time is scheduled as 1 day per week, the remaining 4 days you will be in the workplace.
