The work to update and refurbish several areas of Buckland Hospital in Dover are now complete and in use at the busy hospital site.
Collaborating closely with 2gether Support Solutions, Murphy Philipps, Gardiner & Theobald and Sweco, the newly reconfigured buildings for the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust (EKHUFT NHS) have been completed over three phases.
Phase one involved the creation of a new external area that provides a flexible space for the hospital that can be adapted to meet changing needs. For instance, this remodelled space will initially be used to house a mobile MRI Unit ahead of other works being completed on site.
Phase two sees the current pharmacy building being transformed into a state-of-the-art MRI Suite. The rooms require a specialist lining to be installed within the walls to protect staff and visitors from harmful rays.
Phase three consists of an Urgent Treatment Centre being developed in a previously unused space, with a new layout and up-to-date fixtures and fittings, making for a modern working environment and providing the public with additional facilities.
The project was delivered in a phased manner to keep disruption to a minimum within a live hospital environment, with site logistics being carefully managed to maintain full health & safety requirements. The project is a continuation of our work in collaboration with East Kent Hospital Trust, with the rejuvenation of the buildings at Buckland Hospital allowing for enhanced care and an increase in capacity.
