Description

We are delivering major refurbishment works to two existing water towers located within the landlocked central area of the William Harvey Hospital site for our client 2gether Support Solutions on behalf of East Kent Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The project involves the careful removal of the original concrete cladding panels and supporting frames, with approximately 100 tonnes of concrete being dismantled and removed from each tower. Due to the height, condition and location of the structures, extensive designed scaffolding has been erected to safely support the works and provide full access for operatives.

Once the removal phase is complete, new structural steel frames will be installed, followed by the fitting of modern louvred cladding panels to provide a durable, low-maintenance and visually improved finish.

The works present significant logistical and safety challenges. The towers sit within a tightly constrained operational hospital environment, requiring meticulously planned crane operations, restricted access management and close coordination with hospital stakeholders to ensure uninterrupted site activity and patient safety at all times.
