Description

Following the identification of the site and the successful acquisition of the land in partnership with Orbit, we worked closely with our appointed architect partner, OSG Architecture, to achieve a detailed planning consent for 64 new homes.

Delivered across two sites adjacent to each other, comprising of 41 homes and 23 homes respectively, the site provides a good mix of two-, three- and four-bed houses, as well as a small number of one- and two-bed apartments.

The new homes were sensitively developed to reflect their surroundings and provide high quality throughout. The site features good levels of open space, quality landscaping and generous plot sizes, with off-street parking to each property.

Our team ensured a considered approach to sustainability, through such means as the design of attenuation holding areas in the form of two ‘ponds’ developed by our engineer partner Fairhurst, to accommodate surface water run-off at peak times before directing it in to a nearby watercourse.

All new homes were available for either Shared Ownership or Social Rent as part of a 100% affordable site delivered by Orbit, a leading housing provider in the UK, who have numerous other successful and high-quality developments in Kent.

For ourselves at WW Martin, this scheme represented an exciting opportunity to work in partnership with Orbit to provide much-needed affordable homes in Thanet.
